Clogging is among the most common toilet problems. However, not many people know that you can use a plunger in order to unclog your toilet. Just ensure that the cup covers the drain while you are pushing the plunger. Also remember that there should be water in the toilet bowl when using the plunger and it must be high enough to cover the suction cup. If there isn’t enough water, pour water from the bucket. Avoid flushing the toilet as this can worsen the clogging problem. Make sure that you push the plunger hard a few times in order to unclog and empty the toilet successfully.

Overflowing of the water from the toilet tank will need toilet repairs. This will not completely stop the toilet from flushing but will result in a lot of wasted water if not repaired right away. Oftentimes, this is caused by the ballcock in the tank, which is responsible for shutting down the water once the tank is full. You’ll just have to adjust the ballcock to fix the problem. Try to turn the ball counterclockwise in order to shut the valve. If it’s not working, remove the ball and check if there is trapped water inside it. You need to replace the ball if the float leaks. However, if the previous steps didn’t work, you may have to bend the ballcock and push it downward in the tank.

Seat replacement is one of the easiest toilet repairs that you can do. Just remove the nuts on the seat so you can change it. If it won’t budge, try lubricating the nuts. Make sure that you clean the porcelain before adding the new seat. Try not to tighten the screws too much when replacing it.

Last of the usual toilet problems is the broken flush handle. When this is broken, you may not be able to properly flush the toilet. This is just an easy task that you can perform on your own with a pair of pliers. Visit your home improvement depot and look for the flush handle that matches your toilet model. Just replace the handle and make sure that you follow the instructions carefully.

This just proves that you don’t have to spend so much on different toilet repairs and problems at home. You can try and test your skills to see if you can do it on your own. You can always call the plumber if you can no longer handle the problem.
