Though Star Wars Episode VII came out a few months ago, all eyes are now on the upcoming Episode VIII. If one will have to base things on the last part of the film, it is not that much of a secret that we will be meeting Luke Skywalker once more as Rey begins her Jedi training. Unfortunately, the cast and crew have been extremely discreet about what is to happen in the upcoming Star Wars film. On the bright side, Star Wars Episode VIII spoilers and speculations don’t come short.
Star Wars Episode VIII, written and directed by Rian Johnson (as JJ Abrams has stepped out but will remain as executive producer), recently released its teaser trailer and it reveals the official cast for the upcoming film. Aside from establishing that it will continue where we have left things in The Force Awakens, it also revealed new cast members Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro leaving for a galaxy far, far away.
Cast members that will be coming back for Star Wars episode VIII are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o. Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christine and Andy Serkins. Joining the cast will be Kelly Marie Tran.
Harrison Ford will not be coming back to the films.
Some are hoping that the upcoming Star Wars episode VIII will address questions that have been in our heads such as Rey’s back story and who she is, the story behind C-3PO’s red arm, if Finn is Jedi material or not. A popular speculation is that Rey is Luke’s daughter but that is yet to be confirmed.
Star Wars episode VIII has begun its principal photography on February 15, 2016 at Pinewoods Studios, London and is set for release on December 15, 2017.
