Cruise through Phan Nga Bay by taking one of the many boat trips available. The distinctive feature of this bay is the limestone stalagmites that emerge from the emerald green waters as if by magic. Two of the most famous spots here are James Bond Island and Koh Panyee. Discover the rich history of Phuket’s old town that houses shrines, temples, ornate and gorgeously conserved “shop houses”. Old-world cafes, miniature printing shops, private and public museums and a mini ex-red light district are also the highlight of this old town.
Wat Chalong or more commonly known as the Buddhist temple is among the most prominent symbols of Thailand’s rich heritage. Locals come here to pray, and Westerners come to learn and immerse themselves on Buddhism. Phuket recently added Big Buddha to its list of attractions. Visible from southern end of Phuket, the image stands atop the Nakkerd Hills and magnificently looks down over Kata, Chalong, and Rawai.
Party animals can head to Bangla road on Patong beach and experience a nightlife like nowhere else. Bangla Road has an idiosyncratic flavor to it and ensembles the pallet of a wild child. While in Patong, make time for Simon Cabaret, the biggest transvestite cabaret show to be found locally. It is a whooping musical floor show by the world famous lady boys.
Families with kids must not miss the Phuket Fanta Sea Show at Kamala Beach. Set in a theme park, it is wacky and fun – you will never see anything like it on this entire planet. The plot is particularly humorous and will have you jump off your seats. We highly recommend it as it possesses an extensive entertainment value for all. Lastly, do not miss out on Phuket’s viewpoints – Phromthep Cape, Rang Hill, Kata Viewpoint, Radar Hill Viewpoint and Windmill Viewpoint. The landscape vistas are so enchanting; do not be surprised if your camera runs out of battery!
