Juvederm vs. Restylane: For That Youthful Glow

Both Restylane and Juvederm are injectable dermal fillers used for cosmetic procedures. Target areas are usually the deep wrinkles and creases running along the sides of the nose or mouth. They are not deemed appropriate for crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles, as these are not deep enough to accommodate these fillers.
Juvederm vs. Restylane: For That Youthful Glow
Restylane and Juvederm have slight differences in terms of area of involvement. The target area of Juvederm is around the area of the mouth in hopes of reducing the appearance of wrinkles along the smile lines. It also contributes to lip fullness. Studies have it that Juvederm is better in achieving smoother results; hence, its appropriateness around the lip area. Restylane, on the other hand, is a harder form of gel that stays in place, which is why it is a more efficient choice for the hollow areas beneath the eyes.

The main substance that makes up both Juvederm and Restylane is hyaluronic acid, which is a temporary wrinkle fix. Given this, procedures must be repeated ideally every six months for continued results.

Mechanism of Action
The hyaluronic acid content functions in two ways. First, it is a water absorber, which accounts for the end results of fullness and smoothness. Second, it aids in the production of collagen and elastin, since these mostly diminish with age.

Side Effects
The most common post-operative side effects are lumps, bruising, redness, and discomfort. The latter two are quite normal, as these are typical reactions after the procedure. Treatment is palliative, and the condition may be alleviated within a day or two. But in the case of lumps that may form beneath the skin surface (often referred to as granulomas), you must inform your physician about it.

Choosing Your Dermatologist
We’ve been saturated with numerous horror stories about cosmetic procedures done wrong. Therefore, given that it is the face we’re talking about and the aim is to enhance beauty, it is only imperative that you secure the services of a certified dermatologist with optimum expertise in this field.

Also know that cosmetic treatments don’t usually come cheap, so you’d have to prepare your finances if you’re going to resort to such procedures. The body eventually absorbs the fillers as time goes, which necessitates the periodic refills.

Most cosmetic procedures have one common goal: to restore beauty and achieve a youthful glow. Our skin needs as much care is it needs despite aging. Age may be held accountable for those fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots, but there are preventive measures for us to maintain a pleasant, young, and glowing appearance.
