Acne treatments need not be expensive. In fact, you can find the ingredients right inside your own kitchen. To create a home remedy for acne, all you need to do is raid your fridge and kitchen cupboard. Eggs, oatmeal, cucumber, yogurt, lemon and honey to name a few — quite the usual stuff you are likely to have at home. So forget going to the store for once to buy that pricey bottled treatment. You’ll have clear, glowing and healthy skin just the same, and say goodbye to acne. Try these five homemade facial masks to treat pimple-prone skin and observe how your skin responds.
To start with, use lemon and egg as this is a recommended all-around home remedy for acne. Before going to bed, squeeze half a lemon and mix the juice with one beaten egg white. Apply the mixture to the face avoiding the mouth and eye areas and leave the mask on overnight. Wash your face with warm water the following morning.
You can create a very simple oatmeal facial to help sooth your skin. Form a paste with 2 teaspoons of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and water enough for the mixture. Apply the paste evenly all over your face and gently rub it in. Then, thoroughly rinse afterward.
If you have oily skin, you can make a yeast and yogurt mask as a home remedy for acne. Blend 1 teaspoon of brewer’s yeast then add about two teaspoons of plain yogurt. Apply generously to the T-zone of your skin (forehead and nose) and wait for about 10 minutes to half an hour. Rinse with water, preferably warm and then wash your face with cold water to close your pores.
Use cucumber to have a cooling and soothing effect. This home remedy for acne will also help smooth your skin, which can often feel rough. Mix well one mashed whole cucumber (remove the water) and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Gently apply to face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse with cold water.
You can also use honey to make a home remedy for acne. Before anything else, make sure your pores are open. So, rinse your face with warm water. Next, apply honey and leave it on the skin for 30 minutes. Wash off the honey with warm water and then rinse your face again with cold water to close the pores.
